First of all, I want to say thank you for visiting my blog.
Let me know if you like anything written here, also any kind of suggestions will be appreciated.
In this post, I'll talk about the project I'm working on right now. Actually, right at this point, I don't know what am I supposed to write. There are so many things to talk about and I don't want to spoil all of them in one post. So let me begin with a little idea behind the project.
So I had the idea to start working on this project while I was watching Inside Out. I like their style that combines realistic environment with stylised character. Even they made the camera acts like an actual physical camera. That's when I started thinking about making my own Pixar-style character, then The Boy which is the result of my first attempt ever in doing modelling, came to mind. You can see how terrible I was (but I was really proud of it back then). I came up with the idea of making it better, like the next-gen remake version of it. I began by drawing some idea of the look for the character until I finally got one which I'll upload several posts later ;)

Then another thought came to my head, that said he needs some place to play around to make it even more interesting, giving him character. So yeah, I think it's a pretty good idea. So I gathered several references of boys bedroom, to get the idea of the room I'm going to build. It was supposed to be pretty simple with only few objects here and there, and it would only take like 3 days to finish. But now, a week doesn't seem enough.
After that, I began to model the bed. But, why the bed first? Because, a bedroom is not a bedroom without a bed! It was fun to do because with the help of Marvelous Designer, I could easily model a good-looking bed sheet in an instant. I just simply draw some shapes, connect them together, then simulate. But now I still have a little bit problem with the topology and uv. The model came out fine from MD, but I spotted a flaw presumably because it all made of triangles. I've tried to quadrangulate it within MD. It looks better but the problem stays. Then, I got the idea to ZRemesh it. It looks soo much cleaner. But, another problem showed up, I lost the clean UV that MD produced. I'm not really sure what to do now to make it better but more optimized, I hope I'll figure it out. Also, I might gonna change some parts based on suggestions I gathered so far.
Look at this beauty ;) |
ZRemeshed model looks okay, but the UV is too stretched. |
See those triangles? So ugly. |
That's it for now.
It's been pretty exciting to work on this project. I hope the end result will pay-off ;)
See you next Sunday!
